I don't think you can rely on metaData being called just once, but it is easy enough to add logic to handle the metadata once only. The nature of the metadata depends on how (and with what tool) the flv was encoded. So the answer to your question of predictability is "Yes" only if you have strict control over how the video is encoded. Otherwise, the answer is "No".
