Thanks Patrick Matte Installing the Flash CS4 update from http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html has fixed the problem I had with Flash CS4 running slowly (and a few other thing). I recommend all Flash CS4 users do themselves a big favour and install this update.
