Not sure - I think there used to be a nasty memory leak, even when it was disabled - I had it upto 1.5 GB, a bit like FF 3 years ago. PITA when you have tons of pages open and your browser dies!I'm quite sure that in deactivated state it doesn't consume any xtra memory.
