Hi Cor,

I agree, you should look at AIR first. There are examples out there of
reading and writing files and you already know AS, so less of a learning
curve. 

This might help you. If you read this article and download the example file,
you'll see how files are saved and retrieved to the users drive. Its for
building a simple text editor, but all you will care about is the save and
open functions.
