Hi,
Sorry, I can't answer that question - I have only just started doing
"HTML5" based work. Over the past 3 years, I have been working for a
firm building a single product using Flash rather than doing web based
Flash stuff. I have done HTML+JS+CSS in the past, so the new HTML5 is
not that difficult for me to pick up, but it's the number of platforms
that seems to pose the problem with this.
I would suggest - tentatively - that for the web, you may be best
learning back-end stuff, or focussing your Flash skills into the niche
areas they seem to be heading towards recently: games and maybe
back-office / enterprise apps.
Alternatively, you can learn some back-end stuff.
In UK, Flash dev's seem to get paid more on average than HTML devs,
but lots of people seem to be wanting mobile experience. PHP seems to
be about equivalent with Flash salary wise, whilst if you have any
remote skill in hardcore languages like C++, Java or DBMS experience,
in London you can command a large salary. Generally, it seems to be
about the platform though - mobile / IPTV is calling for people,
whilst Flash based websites seems to have died a bit of a death for
many agencies being replaced by the "schizz".
Whilst the "schizz" is good for some stuff. I am not liking it,
particularly when I have to spend most of my time runtime debugging
rather than compiling, catching errors then tweaking small problems in
the browser - interpreted languages...

Being made to do an enterprise project with buggy HTML5, including
audio when Flash / Flex would be a much better solution because
HTML5 is the schizz.

Well Glen you kidda open the door so let me ask:
Can a guy with decent OOP knowledge, not great but decent. Who has a
passion for AS3 but is not a graphic person make a modest, modest
income off the Internet these days without HTML5.
Let's add to that equation the passion for learning new languages.
My plan was to nail down AS3, and make a transition to Java.
Thanks ahead for any advice. I know the conventional wisdom is to
make a transition but not sure.
