I have kept hoping that I'll se flashrom working with that AM4 board, but so far, no luck.

Is tehre some kernel option that is instrumental for flashrom ?
I do have I2C compiled in the kernel etc ( gentoo-sources ) etc.

Similar OS stack on AM1 board works fine...

I did set up the SPI cable and SPI FLASH on a socket on the front page of my mashines, so I cen reprogram the chip in other maqchiens if/when needed, but it it's awkward.

Siple "flashrom -p internal" returns:

Found chipset "AMD FP4".
Enabling flash write... FCH device found but SMBus revision 0x59 does not match known values.

No EEPROM/flash device found.
Note: flashrom can never write if the flash chip isn't found automatically.
