Removing dependency to a contrib library in the MXML download/build script

the modules/downloads.xml Ant build script is relying on a contrib library for
performing some trivial tasks. I suggest removing this dependency because less
dependencies is better then more dependencies :) It complicates somewhat the
build process (users are requested to download and set up a contrib library,
which is nor automatic neither straight-forward.
