you are absolutely right, I should fix the flexbuilder/flashbuilder goal
in 3.8.
Unfortunately I have absolutely no time to dive deeper into the
flexbuilder goal and I'm absolutely shure it would cost me several days
or weeks to understand what is necessary to do to achieve a production
ready code quality.
The patch of the OptimizerMojo is already done (about 1h) and works for me.
Anybody who is interested in or needs a patched flexmojos-maven-plugin
3.6.1 which keeps the AS3 metadata can find the patched version in
http://flex-playground.origo.ethz.ch/download.

Based on the other conversation, I think it might be easier for you to
examine the flexbuilder goal internals in 3.6.1 where it works for you
and in 3.8 where it doesn't and submit a patch fixing that so that you
can take advantage of the other work being done, rather than try and
implement basically the same fix on 3.6.1. You'd probably also benefit
the FlexMojos community a lot more, too.
