Well because it's a pretty messy thing to support both groupIds (com.adobe.flex and org.apache.flex) ... I doubt there could be a clean solution for supporting both ... hence there would be a need to maintain two branches of the plugin or create insanely complex code with all sorts of condition checking. Second thing is, that FM has become a monster to maintain ... with all of it's cool backward compatability, maintaining it will become more and more difficult. By creating a new plugin from scatch (greatly inspired by Flexmojos) we have the cance to keep what was good and change things which should be changed. Especially with the Compiler I am hoping go get a much easier for of integration by working together with the compiler guys. On the tooling side the Jetbrains guys sounded interested in providing input to allow an even smoother integration into IntelliJ.
