I think the only one who could give you an answer on this, would be velo ... I have no idea. But I know that FM4 was more or less a complete rewrite of FM (As far as I understood Velos comments). Hopefully he will be able to assist you.
However if you create an issue in jira and explain your problem in detail there, I might pick that up and re-implement the feature.
