JesterXL, Could you please expand on your statement? I am trying to create an app that uses web
services to manage data. Are you saying it is possible to compile this app
into a SWF, give it to ‘Joe Blow’, and the app will run without
issues? All they would need is the Flash player? ~David T. From: To clarify, you don't need Flex server to communicate with
back-end data servvices. ----- Original Message ----- From: JesterXL

Questions, Questions The SWF can still hit your backend without issue as long as
it's deployed from the same domain. You don't need Flex server to ensure
that. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rick Bullotta Sent: Wednesday, May 04,

Questions, Questions Yes, you can compile to SWF (and SWC),
but any data services will require the Flex back-end to communicate with. Regarding pricing, 12K is just the list
price. Contact the OEM/ISV sales group. From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com
[mailto: Rick, Just to clarify… You can NOT compile Flex into a SWF? And… Any business my company wants to sell this
application to needs to spend 12K before they can run a Flex application? ~David T. From: David: Yes, Flex needs Flex to run <g>. Call Macromedia’s OEM/ISV sales
organization and talk with them about your needs and pricing constraints.
They seem very flexible and willing to accommodate unique usage scenarios
compared to other OEM’s I’ve worked with.
From: Hello Everyone, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to answer
my questions about Flex. Most were basic, new user questions, and I
really appreciate all the help. I have been researching Flex for an application my company
wants to build and I we have come across a point of contention –
price. My company now wants this application to be independent
instead of integrated into a bigger solution, and the idea of hosting is going
out the window. So… I have 2 starter questions…
