[flexcoders] dynamically create split datagrid coloumn in flex 2

I saw the alex and aruhi blog for splitdatagridcoloumn. 
I am also trying to split columns into more than 2(left and right). 
But I was wondering how you would do it dynamically with a value 
determined by user or at run time? I am still very new to flex and any 
sort of coding example would be much appreciated.
