Underscore variables are not guaranteed to remain.  In fact we’ve gotten rid of all public underscore variables in Player 8.5 and Flex 2.

 

In 1.5 I don’t think we published ASDoc for the built-in classes, that API is only in the ActionScript reference in the docs which I believe is available in PDF and Livedocs format.
