Now the attachAudio function of the movieclip has been removed in AS3, the document (http://livedocs.macromedia.com/labs/1/flex/langref/migration.html) says to use the addChild method instead. But that does not seem to work. If you have any example of attaching a microphone to an object it would help a lot.
