I'm not sure we really provide a way to do that. It's either all or nothing. You could use a custom cell renderer that avoids sending a click up through to the Tree I suppose.
I think the same will be true in 2.0. Might be worth filing an enhancement request at http://www.macromedia.com/go/wish.
