actually, scratch that error. it's something else that's wrong:
public var NewPopUpParent:DisplayObject;
NewPopUpParent = Application.application.mainCanvas;
generates the compile time error
"Access of undefined property NewPopUpParent"
but changing it to
public var NewPopUpParent:DisplayObject =
Application.application.mainCanvas;
doesn't.
(but it does generate a runtime error: "Property mainCanvas not found
on main and there is no default value")
I obviously haven't got the hang of this yet....
