I'm having trouble getting this to work in a custom component...

I want to show and hide a child object (a group of checkboxes in its own
custom component) on state change of the parent (a panel) and have the
panel re-calcuate its correct height with the re-sized sub-component and
re-draw itself to the correct height.

I'm sure I can laboriously figure this one out but it seems that I
should be able to get this done "properly" by using the correct series
of events and methods of the parent container object.
