just a thought...maybe wrong though
 
 
you could call the "click" event  handler of that button and
pass "null" as the argument
 
private function onCreationComplete(event:FlexEvent):void {
     myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);
 
    onClick(null);
}
 
private function onClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
   log.debug("you clicked");
}
