Just create a new XMLListColletion with the source of the one you want
to copy from.

var a:XMLListCollection = new XMLListCollection(xmlList);
var b:XMLListCollection = new XMLListCollection(a.source);

for each (var node1:XML in x ){ 
        trace("XXXX " + node1);                                 
}

for each (var node2:XML in newList ){   
        trace("NNNN " + node2);                                 
}

I see the traces for XXXX but nothing for NNNN
