I ran into the same issue and never was able to resolve it. The only way I could force the TileList to refresh was to force it to re- render using a resize effect. - made the list 0 width and then resize reversed back to original width.
I was using drag and drop to populate one TileList from another and then editing items in the new list. None of the suggestions from several experts made any difference.
