That is a good idea Ted, this is what I did with my components.
There are some other things you could do also, other than what you have suggested which is as good as an idea as what you have going with the original component explorer.
You could create an application that created a wrapper for developers company store front. You know, vision it as the Flex 3rd party component avenue.
There could be an API that us devs plug into to get certain functionality from the core app. I was thinking about doing this myself down the road.
Each dev would almost have a virtual Application that was a site, it then could connect to the main core.
Anyway, that is complicated but, I am going to do it sooner than later.
hehe with all my drag and drop, workspace etc components it will be 10 times easier and 100 times more dynamic. :)
I liked JamJar but, the ui was to freaky for me, for now I am sticking with traditional UI patterns.
Peace, Mike

I have been thinking about putting together a 3rd Party Component Explorer and XML document containing all 3rd party components for Flex. The application would contain working examples and allow developers looking for component to try them out.
I am looking at the workflow for this so that it is easy to maintain and automated:
- Post a Form on Flex.org
- Author/Company
- Contact Information (URL/Email)
- URL to crossdomain.xml
- URL to SWF Example
- URL to MXML Example Source
- Approval Process
- Posted
This would all be wrapped into an app identical to the current component explorer.
Thoughts?
