Subject: Re: [FlexEdge] Deep Impact thought: Software architecture is key

Ernest,

Actually there is a leader and chief architect. His name is Steve Hicks and
the is the VP of Engineering at FlexRadio. Steve and the team here have
significant work on a written Deep Impact ("DI") architectural design
document that has not been made public. The architectural design concept
is near completion and a significant amount of software prototyping had been
done. Our developers have even remotely controlled a FLEX-5000A over the
Internet using prototype DI software.

However, a few months ago we put the DI development on hold until full
release of PowerSDR 2.0 with support for the FLEX-1500 and FLEX-VU5K. We
plan for DI development to resume with high priority soon after the
aforementioned products are fully supported.

Just a suggestion,

As a end user and outsider, most of this on this forum is above my
understanding.

However, I been reading all about your architecture, designs, changes and
possibilities with SDR radios. But, there seems to be no leader in this
group that can take the lead and just say "let's do this or that." and get
starter on a change or modification.

I am wondering if this programming group has had any contact with Mike at
Callsignsoftware ([email protected]). I have used his
software before I moved to the NO KNOB radio arena. His software is
modularize and give you the options to use whatever module you need or like
to apply to your particular radio before re-inventing the wheel.

I have talked to Mike, and I hope that he gets into this area; because of
what he has done with his software. And by the way, he is just a one man
band. Can you imaging what a great asset he would be to this group.

And before you ask, I will answer your question. If I could get a program
that is modularize and I can do this or that with it, I would be happy to
pay for it.

Take a look at Callsignsoftware and see what he has done with his software:

Again, this is are just my thoughts.
