First, I'd like to acknowledge and pass on my appreciation for the release of the 2.0x manual. It looks great, and from someone who has to proof read such manuals, I realize the time that goes into this.
I have the ongoing issue of transverter drive level, though I am reluctant to submit it as a bug. At the monent I do not have a way to provide accurate drive level measurements, but I believe that I can demonstrate the problem. I'm using the 5000 to drive a Microwave Module MMT 144/28R. With a drive level of "50", in TUNE, it easily achieves full output. In SSB, it is impossible, at any drive setting to achieve full output even when speaking a loud "FIVE" or with a whistle. The best I can do is ~ 50% of max output. Varying the mic gain, even at significantly higher settings than would normally be used, the results are the same. It's as if the drive is too low in SSB. Temporarily I built a MMIC circuit that provides about 9 db of gain to the transverter input. This increases the drive level to achieve full output, but it is clearly a bandaid, not the solution. If the Flex boys can duplicate it, I'll submit it as a bug, but I do not want to file false alarms if I'm doing something wrong.
