Hi Laurie VK7ZE Sure can understand the difficulties of working to support a product made for a different market.
What has helped me in the past is to develop a personal liaison who was willing to kind of act as a local agent. I've supported car makes never sold in various countries, electronics only marketed in their home country, and even bought cars this way. If you're in need of a liaison and a Green Bay Packer Fan can help, let me know off list. Life is too short to let silly things like borders and a spot of inconvenience get in the way of having fun with radios - especially when there are friends out there who can lend a hand for a fellow amateur! 73 Steve K9ZW http://k9zw.wordpress.com On May 26, 2011, at 12:00 PM, [email protected] wrote: Date: Thu, 26 May 2011 19:49:33 +1000 From: "Laurie" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: [FlexEdge] Get with the times Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I love my Flex 5000. But the day I sell it is getting closer by the minute. Why? Because as good as it is and at the forefront of technology, there are parts of it that are still in the dark ages. There are accessories that are needed at times that are not always available in all parts of the world. Example - recommended firewire cards, are they available in Australia? NO they were not when I needed one. At least Flex have these available now on the website. Recommended LPT port add on cards for Windows 7 as per knowledge base- are they available in Australia? NO. Tried to get one shipped from two companies, Newegg who I find out won't accept international orders and Amazon, yes they stock them, will they ship it to Australia? NO Why is there no band data outlet on the box? Why thrust us back into the dark ages and force us to use LPT ports and old technology? I tell you, if it wasn't for a few kind people I would have ditched it some time ago. Makes me wonder how many others feel like I do, can't be good.... Hmmmmm, I feel better now, thanks for listening. All I have to do is find a company that will accept international orders and ship to Australia, can't be that hard surely. Its been a long day, good night.
