Regarding the KPA-500, I have on in use here with my whole Flex stuff,
SDR1000
with added 20W amps, and a Flex1500 also added a 100W amp, then my Flex3000
The KPA-500 works fantastic, but it needs quit some drive.
The Amplifiergain is only 12 db, so with the F1.5K you my only get about
100W out
of it, and thats when he is full cranked up.
I use the KPA-500 mainly for Digimodes, like Olivia, RTTY with a usual
output of
200 - 300 W. No problem with the Amp. except its getting a bit noisy,
dont forget
the KPA-500 has mainly a Fan Controlled cooling system, so the in 6 step
cotrolled
fan comes on quit often, and at higher speed its loud.
But on the other side its a safe and secure amplifier and fellows doing
CW or Phone
communication, want have a heath or noise problem even at higher output.
Hooking up the KPA-500 to any TRX is a pleasure, selfsearching
LP-Filters,
so you need only to connect the TX out from your TRX, as well as RF
IN/OUT and you are on
the way with a solid 500W from 1.6 - 50 MHZ.
A very good buy. (I got the KPA-500 as kit)
