The best solution, to be on the safe side, is always using the driver
(whatever tipe of Flex or other radio)at the max output and use power
attenuator at the input of amplifier. If amplifier has RX/TX switching
inside, it must be mounted in TX line, not to interfere with RX signal.
It is not green, but it assures long happy life of amplifiers and always
good matching betwen RTX and PA.
It is not "green", but it's efficient at 100%.

Subject: [FlexEdge] Help, I need help! Solid State vs Tube Amplifiers

I HAD a THL solid state amp, the FETs burned out after a brief period of
use. THL said the spikes coming out of my SDR were to blame. Once
repaired, I sold it and now have a tube amp which is working perfectly. Of
course I'll probably have to buy new tubes... in about 20 or 30 years!

Wait, wait...I hear the amp whispering.  SHHHH...what is it saying?  Sounds
like, "Toobs is fer boobs."
