George, I also have the same experience (both ends of it). I put up a web page detailing the continuing CW issues with my Flex-1500 here:.
http://w9xc.net/articles/w9xc-flex1500-cw-latency-issues.html I also find that a keyer helps. On the plus side, last week one evening on 40M CW from central Illinois, I worked KH7, TI2, and all over Europe using 5 watts. The Flex 1500 can be great. - Les, W9XC
So, I commondeered my office computer, put PSDR 2.2.3 on it, and fired up the F1.5K. Wow! What a difference! The F1.5K separates out the stations so well, its like no one else is on the band when I narrow down the bandwidth. The CW with a paddle is truely frustrating at times....can't key it well without an external keyer (which is around here somewhere); but, by setting my call and "599 5" into the CW memories, I don't have to use the key. The F1.5K is one fantastic radio. Have been working a lot of rare DX this afternoon at 5W! George K2CM (Broome County, NY)
