I haven't received any interference complaints since the cable system
was installed here back in the early 90's, but before then I had a few
issues with TVI and phone interference. Following the passage (in 1975)
of the Part 15 labeling requirements I always found it was helpful to
guide those who had this issue when I was operating to the little Part
15 tag that was stamped onto their cheap cordless phone or their
television, with a focus on item (2):
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject
to the following two conditions:
(1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operation.
That always seemed pretty clear to me. Besides, at this point, I
couldn't imagine that anyone would complain about the beautiful sound of
a Flex as it pours through their home entertainment system with
perfectly balanced audio. I'm sure the only complaint they might have
would be that their home equipment is incapable of demodulating SSB.
That's a great reason to switch over to AM. What could be better than to
have your neighbors smile and wave as they compliment you on your audio
while you step outside to grab the newspaper in the morning!
