Hi James
I have here a selection of Flex SDR Radios and can state, that a Flex
1500 want work for Pactor on
a PTC II or II plus, as the reponce time with even the smallest
buffersettings is to slow, even on LP
i had probelms setting it up, i use here 2 PTC II, one hooked to a SDR
the other to a
Icom 756 pro II which is very fast.
The responce time is never below 150ms (measured with the PTC II) on the
F1.5K, where with the
Flex 3000 and 5000 its working great, (PTC measured responce time 96ms)
even Amtor ARQ was possible,
but the buffersetting is very short, on both RX and TX, so the filters
look not at their best.
I have tested this from the beginning when the first Flex5000 came out,
and Flex did a fantastic job on
PWRSDR programming to made it work as it is now, since i first sent them
the scope pictures after the
outcom of the F5K.

Hi All,
Has anyone made up the Flexwire 1500 Version 2 and tried Pactor successfully ? I certainly have
tried with somewhat poor results. Describing the symptom goes like this... while it tries to make a
connect it "appears" the listening time after transmit is not long enough to hear a
complete "possibly" un-truncated frame and confirm a connect.
Obviously the key is minimize latency buffers down to the wire and run the driver as
"Agressive" however still no success. Even selecting "long path" within the
software (in the test case Simple Gold32 and Airmail) it does not create a work around or
resolution.
Having used the 3000& 5000 big brothers successfully with buffer tweaking the
QRP character of the 1500 lends itself to digital modes so well, naturally I am
extremely eager to find a solution anybody ?

Thanks Jerry,
Yes it's big ask for new SDR technology and it takes small buffers to achieve it on
the FireWire models however I can confirm Pactor is no problem (settings
conditional) for Airmail or RMS Express SimpleGold32 etc even throwing in the PTC's
Bluetooth link option. To set up Pactor on the 3000& 5000 models see;
http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50422.aspx
I suspect turnaround time maybe hampered by the USB dept. Latency is a very
interesting subject as when the world went digital no one really noticed as in
most areas latency tends to look after itself. Let's see what others have to
say.

I understand the rx to tx turn-around time (latency) of the flex rigs is too
long to allow Pactor. I am surprised the 3000 and 5000 worked for you.
I think the ARRL's QST reviews address this in the specifications they publish.
