Hi Steve,
Is there any likelihood that Flex will publish the interface spec and/or
provide (sell?) APIs such that someone could develop their own client on
their platform of choice?

SmartSDR is an umbrella platform. The SmartSDR client software will
initially run on Windows. The interface to the radio is an Ethernet (IP)
interface and so creation of additional clients only requires
implementation of the client and the interface. This is far simpler task
than implementation of PowerSDR which is a complete real-time streaming DSP
application. One of the purposes of a "thin client" architecture is to
make it easy to port or build the client on a different platform. So our
interest in having this capability (running on different platforms) is
high, but not higher than finishing the core software for the radio and
initial client.
The bulk of functionality that is SmartSDR runs inside of the radio, itself.
Does this help answer your question?
