Unfortunately, Yaesu has had at least two pin-out's for its 8 pin
connectors.
I use Heil mics and when I tried to use my Heil AD-1-Y (yellow) adapter from
my Yaesu FT-736R on the Flex 5000A it did not work.

The pin-out's are:
FT-736R adapter Pin Flex 5000A
Audio input + 1 no connection
PTT + 2 +5 VDC 65ma
no connection 3 no connection
no connection 4 no connection
8 VDC 10ma 5 ground
no connection 6 PTT +
Audio ground 7 Audio ground
PTT ground 8 Audio input +

I rewired the Heil adapter to match the Flex and all worked fine.
The FT-736R went out of production in 1995 so the pin-out must have been
revised on models after this date.

Robert,

Yep -- Yaesu pin-out. Only difference is that the FLEX-5000 uses an 8-pin
Foster connector instead of the RJ-45 modular connector.
