Dan:

Not unless Tim is planning to stay up all night! And he's in the Eastern
Time Zone!

One reason we wanted to release the release notes is to minimize the
support call load after the release. (How many times can I use "release" in
a sentence.... yikes!) We are very excited about the new Firewire driver
in 2.4.4 but there will be a few folks caught off guard by the "You can't
go back" notice in the release notes and we wanted to do the release during
the day in the middle of the week so we can help if needed. We are aware
of a few folks that use different PowerSDR versions to perform different
functions. For example, one ham uses 2.23 for CW and 2.35 for Digital
modes. The good news is that 2.4.4 has even more expanded profile saving
capabilities to make multiple modes easier. The BETTER news is that your
2.3.5 database will import directly into 2.4.4 without any hassle. The 'bad
news'...(not really bad to us) is the new Firewire driver is incompatible
with all previous versions of PowerSDR.

One simple trick I tell people to prepare for upgrades is to use Windows'
Snipping Tool (screen capture) and make pictures of your PowerSDR setup
screens. Grab your mic settings from the main screen, VAC and CAT settings
from SETUP, plus any special setups you might have. Then do an EXPORT
DATABASE from SETUP. This will make a copy of your current database and
store it in case we need to retrieve something later.

Lastly, if you do have an issue, please be patient with the support team.
I highly recommend opening a trouble ticket at
http://helpdesk.flexradio.com . This alerts everyone on the team you have
an issue and the first available person will get back to help you. Of
course the phone is always fine but please leave a voicemail if you get the
dreaded message.

Many thanks to Tim for making sure everything is ready for this new release!

Enjoy!
