Did you by change have the radio powered up when you installed PowerSDR v2.4.4? Sounds like the driver was open and the necessary DLLs did not get written when the driver was installed?

Please submit a support ticket via our HelpDesk (http://helpdesk.flexradio.com) so we can assign you a case number. For details on how to submit a HelpDesk support ticket, please refer to the following URL: http://support.flexradio.com/ Once the support ticket is submitted, a support engineer will be in contact so we can work on the issue. I will need to be able to access your PC remotely over the Internet to clear this up quickly.

Tim,
I am experiencing the same problem. Only difference is that I didn't import
anything. I had 2.3.x on my system. I did a full install of 2.4.4 following
the instructions. Everything went smooth as silk. I started up PSDR and it
worked great. Tuned around, tried a few things then tried and change the
sample rate. That is when it crashed and I got the exception report. I quit
and then the I get the scenario described below.

Every time I try and run PSDR, I keep getting a message telling me that new
firmware is required. When I say go ahead and install it, I get the firmware
loading box for about 3 seconds then a success message. (I seriously doubt
that it loaded anything -- the success message was too quick). When I try
and start PSDR, I get the same message again. I say load and the cycle
repeats.

I can recover by removing the new driver and then removing 2.4.4

I've done this about three times now. It works great at 96Ksps but don't you
dare try 48 or 192.

It is playing away very happy at 96K right now.

Walter,

You have something in the imported database that is causing your problems.
I recommend you open Setup, click on the button "Factory Defaults" and allow
PowerSDR to restart. Then do not import that old database that was causing
the problems.

BTW, uninstalling and reinstalling PowerSDR almost never resolves problems,
since the database is what controls the radio and it is not removed when you
uninstall the software since it was created after the software was
installed.

Hello,

have a little problem with the installation and the sample rate and
Flex5000.
Before I am running of 96kHz no more was possible. Each time I set to
192kHz I get an major fault, PowerSDR and Driver must be uninstalled
and new reinstalled.

After installing V2.4.4 I was able to run just one time PowerSDR with
success. I imported the old database with the 96kHz sample rate and
PowerSDR stopped with a major fault.

Uninstalling the complete package and after reinstalling the program
is starting. But if I press the Start/Stop button I get a fault "Wrong
Sample Rate". If I am looking into the Setup, there is 96kHz. I set it
to 48kHz with no success. No I can not start PowerSDR anymore. A fault
window appear that no driver is installed.
The program FlexRadio is showing the Flex5000 not more. The driver
setup is not access able. After uninstall/reinstall the same....

Please help.

Betreff: [FlexEdge] Announcing the release of PowerSDR v2.4.4

To all FlexRadio Systems SDR owners:

PowerSDR v2.4.4 has been released and is available for download at the
following URLs:

PowerSDR v2.4.4 Installer:
http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=401
PowerSDR v2.4.4 Release Notes:
http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=402

PowerSDR v2.4.4 is a significant release with several VERY IMPORTANT
caveats. Please read this message and the PowerSDR v2.4.4 Release
Notes in their entirety.

Seriously, we are not kidding. PLEASE READ THE RELEASE NOTES before
installing PowerSDR v2.4.4

With PowerSDR v2.4.4 there is a new look and feel to the integrated
software installer. It is more streamlined requiring fewer decisions
to be made regarding your radio type(s) and what accessories you have
connected to your PC due to pre-installing all necessary drivers for
all radio types. Even if you only currently use a FLEX-1500, the FLEX
Firewire driver will be preloaded, but not used unless you connect a
FLEX-5000 or FLEX-3000 to your computer. This will eliminate the need
to re-install PowerSDR if you use a different radio type or decide to
add a FlexControl at a later date. Because of this new feature, the
PowerSDR integrated software installer will prompt you to reboot your
PC after it has completed installing PowerSDR v2.4.4.

Regarding new features, this release contains the long awaited
streaming Firewire driver v4.0.0 for the FLEX-5000 and FLEX-3000. This
driver utilizes a brand new streaming architecture that improves
throughput performance (reduced latency) and better resiliency to PCs
that experience long duration deferred procedure call (DPC) latencies.
With the older Firewire driver, long duration DPCs would result in
distorted audio; this is no longer the case. The audio can still
"freeze" if the DPC latency is in excess of
~15,000 µS.

Because of the completely different streaming architecture of the
v4.0.0 Firewire driver, it requires firmware updates that are *NOT
BACKWARDS
COMPATIBLE* with previous versions of PowerSDR. This means that once
you install PowerSDR v2.4.4 you will not be able to use previously
installed versions of PowerSDR unless you revert back to the older
Firewire driver and firmware versions. There are instructions in the
PowerSDR v2.4.4 Release Notes that describes that procedure in detail.

There are no significant changes to the database schema with PowerSDR
v2.4.4 so you should be able to import data from PowerSDR v2.3.5 if
the Strict DB Import Compliance option is unchecked in the
Setup->General->Options tab. You can always use the K9DUR SDR Data
Transfer Utility v5.0 to migrate database data from a previous version
of PowerSDR too.

In conjunction with the new Firewire driver and optimizations
compiling the DSP code, testing of PowerSDR v2.4.4 has shown a
significant improvement in CW operation regarding RX->TX->RX
transition timing over previous versions of PowerSDR. These
improvements are also applicable to all modes, but are most noticeable
when operating CW.
In the EU, some radios require their transmit frequency ranges to be
modified to meet regulatory compliance. For these radios, PowerSDR
now creates an IARU Region 1 specific band text database (the readout
below the VFO), band edge markers and realigned band stack registers.

There are also other features and numerous bug fixes included with
PowerSDR
v2.4.4 that are documented in the PowerSDR v2.4.4 Release notes, so
please review them before installing PowerSDR v2.4.4.

If you have issues installing or operating PowerSDR v2.4.4 with
FlexRadio's software defined radios, please refer to the Release Notes
first, as the answer to your questions may be located there. If you
still can't resolve your issues, then contact FlexRadio Systems
technical support by opening a HelpDesk ticket on-line at
http://helpdesk.flexradio.com or by phone at +1
(512) 535-4713 extension #2. Please leave a voice mail message if you
don't get an answer as all of our engineers are probably busy on existing
calls.
Opening a HelpDesk ticket is the preferred method for getting the
quickest resolution to your issue.
