George,

Yes! From "day one" Gerald has always said that the 5K is an "electronic instrument." I've never found reason to disagree!

Subject: [FlexEdge] F5K impressive as a frequency measuring tool

I participated in a frequency measuring test Thursday night using my F5K. Prior to making each of three measurements I calibrated the F5K using the builtin calibration, then using a narrow filter in DSB, watched the scope to look for zero beat of the signal to be measured. (The F5K was only on for a couple of minutes, so not sure of the stability in my environment.)

The F5K is impressive as a frequency measuring instrument. My measurements were all within a Hertz.

One of the important factors is that the audio chain will pass through sub-hertz audio to the built in scope, another is that it's easy to set up a narrow audio filter to remove noise.
