The side-tone delay really caused trouble for me when I first started using
the 1500.  I got around that problem by buying a K1EL keyer and using the
side tone on that.  Later versions of PowerSDR have improved the situation
considerably but the delays are still an issue. I use the 1500 exclusively
for CW and I'm happy with it as my only rig.  I'd rather have the 1500 for
CW than the old Kenwood TS520 which was my previous rig.

I'm not saying the KX3 isn't a better CW radio than the 1500 (I don't know
anything about the KX3) but it wasn't available when I bought the 1500 so I
didn't consider it as an option.   I'm quite interested in seeing what
lower end SmartSDR radios Flex will be producing in the future and how a
ten watt version of the the Flex 6500 will compare to the KX3.  For that
matter, I'm also interested in knowing how the current 6500/6700 series
perform in CW mode.
