I assure you that it works, but probably just not in the way that you
expect.  The wave recorder will record the raw data samples as they are
seen coming into the sound card (from the radio).  This means 2 things:
1- The audio will be very low level (hence the need for AGC) and 2- the
audio on RX will be at 11KHz.

For these reasons, if you playback the wave file on another application,
you will likely just hear what sounds like nothing (due to #1) or a
screeching around 11KHz (due to #2).

Instead of playing these wave files back through another medium, the
idea is to play them back through the PowerSDR software itself.  Give it
a try.  It allows you to tune through the entire 48KHz of audio that was
recorded.
