Does anyone know the power requirement for an external oscillator for the SDR? I am going to run two of them for diversity reception.
Very low (0dBm is more than enough). You can actually drive multiple SDR-1000s from one of the on board oscillators.
Bear in mind that your two SDR-1000s will not have a stable phase relationship to each other, because there's no way to synchronize the phase accumulators. Once on a new frequency, the phase relationship is stable, but it's not the same every time. You can then either handle the phase difference in your post processing, or you can bump the phase offset in one of the DDSes to line them up.
The is the one line from the DDS that I wish Gerald had brought out to the interface, so you could load up a bunch of SDR1000s and then have them all latch simultaneously.
