John, Please keep the group posted about interfacing your Quadra to the SDR-1000. I have one also and have been putting off getting it coupled to the SDR, primarily waiting for the Universal Control Board (UCB) so I could take advantage of the auto band switching available in the Quadra.

Date Received: 16 Feb 2006. Problem: Unit fails to release key line to external rf amplifier upon USB adapter abort. I am (attempting) using the SDR-1000 to drive my Yaesu Quadra VL-1000 soiid state RF Amplifier and when the SDR-1000 see something it doesn't like it opens the line to the USB line to the computer. Standard procedure. However when it does this and the Quadra is online in the transmit mode the keyline is not released by the SDR-1000. I called in about this and was told to power down the SDR-1000. Well, powering down the SDR-1000 at it's front panel and also securing the DC supply to the SDR still does not release the groundline/keyline to the Quadra. Only removing the keyline from the back of the Quadra will unkey the Quadra. If I power down the Quadra and then power it up again with all power removed from the SDR-1000 the quadra will come online keyed unless this keyline from the SDR is removed which confirms the SDR is not releasing the keyline. I am using software version Beta 1.4.5 Preview 15. When I initially called in I was using preview 14 and was noting this problem when transferring a position of a knife switch in the antenna line with no equipment keyed and I would get the USB adapter release flag. Additional problems have cropped up but will handle under separate cover. Keep up the good work, I love this black box but it is beating me up big time. For the record I retired from professional communications and electronics in 2000. Dealt primarily with rf operation and maintenance/repair.
