Mike I just use a patch cord from my presonus headphone out 1/4" jack to my toshiba laptop line-in port 1/8" and make sure the laptops internal audio card audio setting for line in is not muted. Works great and sound is pretty good considering it's a laptop. I also sometimes run skype or other windows aps that use sound and it just mixs with sdr audio, no problem.
