Chas, Well I used split here now with HRD and it works much easier.
I was using the K6JCA console and it would not allow me to jump back easily to the DX Listening freq. If I did I have to reinput where I wanted to xmit. But using HRD I can toggle easily back and forth.. Thanks for the help. Select split. That means you TX on B and receive on A. A is always to the left so you are always transmitting on the right vfo. Tune around until you see a pile up, filter on 1K. Equalize the vfos by A > B. Now tune in the DX station on A and set the filter to narrow, say 100 Hz so you can copy him. Shift to B by A <> B which is the vfo you are going to transmit on, B filter still on 1K. Find out where he is listening, where the competition is, and set the frequency where you are going to TX. Shift back to A by A <> B. When he signs, then TX. You will TX on B which has the wide filter and has your TX frequency. I can do this on my K2 using Carl N4PY's program. The K2 by itself will not associate filters with VFOs, but the SDR1k does. HRD I believe has adopted the same scheme, so you can also use HRD with the K2, or whatever. 73, Chas W1CG At 10:16 PM 8/17/2006, Scott Gordon wrote: >Man this took me forever to figure out and by the time I did the DX >station was gone.. > >Just doesn't seem easy but maybe I am going about this wrong? > >I tune VFO A to DX station then hit split then dial VFO B to where I >will transmit. > >Now if I needed to listen back on the freq where the DX is listening I >have to swap B to A > >But then have to start all over again to set up.
