The Dell 8200 uses RAMBUS. I found a dealer on ebay selling used but guaranteed memory for about a third of the price. I might give it a try.
There are dealers selling Dell (ie Flex Radio). I have purchased several from Pilgrim Technology. They come with full Dell warranty and service tag. I even called Dell to verify. A few months ago, I purchased a XPS 600 with 30" wide screen fully loaded and saved over $1500. $500 of it was in sales tax alone. (Dell now charges sales tax in AZ) They currently have a basic XPS 400 / 9150 2.66 Ghz dual core, 256MB for $399. (no Monitor and speakers) Dell has just changed models but this can be duplicated directly from Dell for about $600. This is probably getting off topic. Thanks for all the replies. I should have a SDR-1000 up and running in a couple of weeks. 73's Mark NU6X....Sedona,AZ -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Cecil Bayona Sent: Tuesday, September 05, 2006 9:36 AM To: FlexRadio List Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Required PC Memory for old Dells can be bought much cheaper from third party suppliers, none of my Dell's use Dell memory, but if your PC uses RAMBUS ram then you are stuck with high prices. But would it really be a Dell that they are selling? I've read about Chinese fakes that are made to look like Dell's and labeled as such but are cheap fake imitations. I don't believe Dell uses dealers but sells direct only. The XPS 400 starts at $1000, what are these people trying to sell you for $470? Be careful and check it out to make sure you are getting what is being advertised.. -- Cecil KD5NWA www.qrpradio.com www.hpsdr.com _______________________________________________ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com
