Ferrite can help in the case of common mode interference problems. I am using several turns of USB cable wound in double E-core ferrite (Grade N27) at BOTH ends of the cable. <http://kotisivu.dnainternet.net/ahti/sdr-1000/USBfilt.jpg> If you have no E-core, you may use big toroids with several (3-4) turns.
