Ken  .. I use an old program called "WinADR". You will find information on 
it at

It is easy to use. It allows quick renaming of files and produces very tight 
MP3 files that are easily emailed.  I am sure that there are many that are 
more elegant like "Audacity" which allows editing (cleaning up prior to 
saving or sending etc).
