Dear SDR friends,
I have problems to operate the campander succesfully. Adjusting Mic
Gain and SENS at the FA-66 as recommended (reaching the 0 dB level at
the Mic TX Meter occasionally) results in a high quality audio signal
at the monitor (of course as well through the RF chain to the antenna).
With the compander switched on -already at a very low level of 1-
results in a distorted signal sounding like overloading a stage.
Reducing the Mic gain by at least 10 makes a clear and almost
undistorted signal accompagnied by compander action as expected,
however, with an equivalent reduction at the Mic TX meter. and
therefore reduced output.
What's wrong? I hear others with high quality CPDR operation, DJ5ER for
example (with D44).

My set-up:
PIO v2.1, TRX v3.2, RFE v1.4, BPF v3.2
v1.8.0
FA-66, SENS below maximum level (no overload action)
Mic Gain 20 (Mic Boost OFF)
Leveler, 0 or 3 dB gain
SR 48 kHz, Buffer sizes 2048
XP on Via Epia MII, 1.3 GHz, 512 MB RAM

Thanks for any hint, Hans, DL2MDQ
