Dave, I am having a hard time understanding your concern.
First, if you have a Flex SDR-1000 like I do, it's not going to go up in a puff of smoke just because a new version is on the horizon. I don't have to upgrade to enjoy new features. The SDR-1000 will still have the backing of the user community and Flex itself. My radio will still get the software updates without upgrading to the new 5K. I plan to keep on using my radio for a long time! I've seen a few panic sales already and this might be a good time to stock up on spares! --Larry W8ER [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > >> ----Original Message---- >> > > >> BTW >> the 5000 is what I wanted my 1000 to be rebuild to, still busy >> > > At $2,500 I wish you all the luck in the world. > > What happened to the original article idea that software updates were > all that you would need, and hardware upgrades were 'old hat'? > > Excuse me, but this is, to my way of thinking, the third hardware > radio.
