Thats pretty cheap! I just ordered a new mobo and CPU with DDr2 800
memory and wish I had seen this first!

I asked Flex what class of cpu they are putting in the 5000C/D and
figured something in that range would be gud for the desktop. They
are using Dual Core Mobile chips around the 2.0 Ghz range (with 4mb
cache if I remember correctly). For a desktop computer, I would go
(at least) for the Intel Dual core E6300 on upwards. Modt mid-line
motherboards now have firewire ports (at least the ones I was
considering). Some even use TI chips for this but most use other brands.

Flex are you still recommending any specific firewire controller chip
for the 5000a?
