the General>Options setup screen. An even better solution would be to
tie this and other parameters to the TX Profile or create a "Mode
Profile". I already use a RTTY TX Profile to set lower Drive and Tune
power levels for the RTTY mode.

Not for me it isn't.

Default behavior should turn off RIT and XIT and not try to deal with
"standard" offsets that change by the mode and, sometimes, by the station
worked.

AFAIK, there is no common offset between the various digital modes. If
so, what we have is the best available behavior for digil and digu.

Not clearing RIT has cost me QSOs "in the heat of the battle." By all
means, maybe a profile can override, but the default behavior should be
agnostic towards shifts and reset both RIT and XIT on click and other
frequency "main dial" moves.

If there's a way to easily accomodate all modes, I'm all ears, but I cant
think of an easy way to do it. Third party RTTY/PSK code must also work
with whatever we do here. If it "sees" something different than we do, it
isn't a clear improvement for those of us watching two waterfalls.
