Guenter What you are asking for is not a capability that the F5K has (currently). To do so would require additional audio channels on the Firewire connection, more complex interaction with the Windows Audio mixer (since you would have to interact with the laptop's sound card to access the mic and speakers) and would add additional latency to the overall audio chain, along with taking more computer resource to process the additional audio channels. The AF you hear (and speak) has to go through a DAC / ADC process which is now on the F5K and not a computer sound card. PowerSDR only deals with AF (normal and I/Q) in the digital domain. It is the F5K that converts it to the analog signals you hear and use to modulate you signal.
You can do it currently using the line in / out (RCA connectors) on the back of the F5K and route the AF to your laptop sound card. You could probably get something to work using VAC, but addition signal processing will probably need to be utilized since VAC bypasses all of PowerSDR's audio processing features (EQ, compander, etc..) -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of guenter Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2007 2:20 AM To: FlexRadio List; Dudley Hurry Subject: [Flexradio] Fwd: Re: audio signal path Dudley, No, the question is: How can I use the Computers Mic and speaker without audio cabling to the flex5k box ? ((No mic or speaker connected to the flex5k) There should be no need of VAC guenter ---------- Weitergeleitete Nachricht ---------- Guenter, When VAC is enabled, the mic input is disconnected for the virtual in/out of VAC, so there is no need to worry about the laptop's mic or audio output. To monitor the transmitted audio signal, turn on the Monitor and listen through your normal speakers or headset. Vcom will take care of the transmit control and CAT commands. For example with MixW, OsinTnx Osin or Hamscope.
