For a sound card to work you must have 4 analog inputs (well, actually three) and 4 analog outputs. The inputs are I & Q in and audio in (microphone). The outputs are I & Q out and AF channel 1 and 2 out (stereo speakers). From the specs on the web site, it appears that the card does not meet those specifications.
I beta tested one of the E-MU cards for FRS a while back. The ASIO drivers did not work. There is a reason the E-MU is cheap. Since the performance of the soundcard is DIRECTLY related to the quality (dynamic range) of the A/D converters, getting a cheaper (lower quality) sound card degrades the performance of a potentially great radio. If you are not happy with the performance of your computer, it may be the sound card is not the problem. The D44 is a good card and does not tax system resources very much. I'd recommend doing the PC optimizations found on the KB if you have not done so. http://kb.flex-radio.com/article.aspx?id=10307 -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paul Giusti Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2007 7:58 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Flexradio] E-MU 1212M sound card and SDR 1000 Hi All I'm wondering if anyone is using a E-MU 1212M sound card with the SDR1000 and if there is any benefits over using the supported M-Audio D44. I currently run my SDR 1000 with the D44 Card on a AMD 2800+ & 1 Ghz RAM with XP SP2. I'm not unhappy with the performance but it appears on paper that the E-MU has better characteristics then D44 and from doing some googling it appears the DSp chip in it is similar to HPSDR board the E-MU is certainly more economically priced then the Edirol FA-66?? Any comments or suggestions gratefully received. Paul - VK3FPG -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
