Hello,

I am having problems setting up for CW on my 5000A. If anyone recognizes
the symptoms below and has overcome them, please let me know! My system
details are at the bottom of this message.

Thanks very much,

Sam Cartinhour W2SNX

1. Using a paddle connected directly to the key jack, iambic mode checked,
cw speed 25 wpm, break in enabled and delay at 700 ms -- keying is mostly
perfect, but a couple of times a minute one of three things happens -- a
'dit' or 'dah' is missed; the transmitter drops back to receive long
before 700 ms passes (as if I am being kicked out of transmit); or
something "sticks" and I send a continuous stream of dots or dashes. In
the first two situations I can simply continue sending. In the third
situation, just tapping the paddle seems to regain control.

The first two situations also occur even if break in is disabled and I
activate the transmitter using MOX.

2. Using a bug connected directly to the key jack, iambic mode unchecked,
break in enabled and delay at 700 ms -- many dits are dropped and the code
is unreadable. After a minute or so somthing sticks and I am sending one
long 'dah'. A tap on the bug regains control.

The bug symptoms also occur even if I use MOX instead of break in.

Both the paddle and bug send perfectly on my Kenwood TS-570D. Also, both
worked perfectly with the SDR-1000 and PowerSDR v1.10.2. I have not tried
1.10.2 with the 5000A.

System details:

I am running PowerSDR v1.10.4 with Firmware 0.1.1.9; Windows XP SP 2; the
computer is a Dell Dimension DM061 with a Pendium D CPU (2.8GHz). CPU
usage is always below 20%.

On the Flex Control Panel (3.0.0.70), the sampling rate is 48 kHz, buffer
size is 512, operation mode is Safe Mode Level 1. Within PowerSDR, the
audio settings are buffer size 512, sample rate 48000. The DSP settings
are RX 4096 and TX 512.
